II. My Philosophy

Each child’s academic success is influenced by the interconnectedness of their support network.

Through years of classroom teaching experience, I’ve learned that when students witness collaboration between their caregivers and their teachers, tutors, and coaches, they not only take more ownership of their learning, but also feel truly supported and empowered. I’m here to provide personalized, standards-based tutoring paired with individualized recommendations for home-practice between sessions, ensuring a holistic and results-driven learning experience for you and your child.

III. About Me

Elementary teaching has been my calling since I myself was in elementary school. I was fortunate to attend a public school where learning was joyful, teachers were passionate, and my academic and social-emotional needs were mostly met.

However, on my path towards becoming a teacher I realized that my experience is simply not the case for many young learners. It is my mission to provide high-quality, hands-on instruction to all my students, while simultaneously instilling confidence and a positive affiliation with learning. I love tutoring because it allows me to hyper-focus on one student or a small group of students at a time, tailoring instruction to feel interesting and at that “just right” level.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I am an Orton-Gillingham certified instructor, so for reading instruction and baseline assessments I primarily use their curriculum. OG instruction is multi-sensory, systematic, and highly effective.

I also draw on my years of classroom teaching and experience with multiple elementary math, reading, and writing curriculums to customize each of my tutoring sessions to meet the exact needs of each individual student.

I have experience teaching SIPPS, Eureka Math, EngageNY, EL Education, and Bridges, to name a few.

  • Definitely! If you would like to speak with a previous family I have tutored for, I can connect you for a phone call to hear about their experience with me.

  • I ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel a scheduled session. I understand things can come up, especially with kiddos, so I allow one last minute cancellation per student without being charged.

  • I bill per session, but you can pay as you go or for a group of sessions at a time. For example, most of my 2x/week students pay at the end of the week for both sessions.
